I know everyone is looking forward to putting 2020 in the rearview mirror.

2021 will be better. Naming and claiming.

What I'm reading: Enjoying A Promised Land by Barack Obama. It's a loooong one at 700 pages. It's the first of two books.

What I'm watching: A few Hallmark and It's a Wonderful Lifetime movies. Has anyone else noticed in some scenes the super cute mugs look empty? No hot chocolate. No coffee. No tea.  What's up with that? The fake sipping reminds me of my childhood "tea" parties.

So far, this year's favorite new Hallmark movie is A Christmas Tree Grows in Colorado, starring Rochelle Aytes and Mark Taylor.

Must-see annual classics include Christmas in Connecticut, Miracle on 34th Street,  and the colorized I Love Lucy Christmas Special.

For modern movies set during the holidays, I tend to prefer those with a little more conflict. The Best Man Holiday, The Family Stone, Love Actually, This Christmas; and The Holiday fit the bill. I  also check out LMN's Slay Bells lineup.  Campy drama, guaranteed chuckles.

What I'm listening to: The Hidden Brain  NPR podcast, hosted by social science correspondent Shankar Vedantam. Using studies, guests break down patterns that drive human thoughts and behavior. I love sociology and psychology. Some insights about people have been helpful for writing and real life.

Yarny Things: By New Year's Eve, I'm trying to finish all knit/crochet WIPs started in 2020. Clean slate for 2021. Also vowing to have only two   "live" projects - one knit, one

crochet- going. I must complete one before starting something new.  With this approach, I won't have a bunch of UFOs (unfinished objects) making me feel guilty at the end of the year.

Let's see how this plan goes in 2021. Speaking of UFOs what's known as "the second sock syndrome" hit hard with my latest pair. I completed one, but stalled for months on the second one. Many knit two socks at a time using Magic Loop to avoid this. I've yet to master this technique. Until then, it's the old-fashioned way, one at a time. I had planned to participate in the "Sockmas" IG knit-along. With everything else going on, no way will I finish a pair by the deadline. But here's a pic of the yarn and  project bag. lol I will participate next year.

Finally completed that half  second sock. (See photo)  Bam! This is the first pair I've knitted that actually fit. Milestone. Woo-hoo! (Vanilla Sock pattern by The Crazy Sock Lady.)

Merry Christmas

Happy Kwanzaa

Happy Hanukkah

Happy New Year

to You and Yours! :D
