Happy New Year!
2021 wasn’t as wonderful as I’d assumed it would be.  I chuckle to myself when I think back to calling 2020 a "dumpster fire,"  so sure 2021 would be all sunshine or rainbows... *in comparison.*

NOT!

Covid said, “Hold my beer! There's more!!!”

2021 had tests on a few fronts. And my word for 2021 and 2022 is resilience.

Though we are in the midst of another Covid surge with Omicron, I believe 2022 will eventually ease into the much-better category.

Reading: By Her Command by Wayne Jordan.

Detective Alesha Franklyn goes undercover and has to strut her stuff at a strip club in an attempt to find the women who are missing. Little does she know, she's the one who will be taken hostage by school teacher, Dane Richards, who has more on his mind than teaching her an English lesson.

Watched: The Matrix Resurrections, via HBO Max. I enjoyed it, but felt sorta foggy on some connections, especially after reading reviews and discussing plot points with my husband. So I rewatched The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions again. Now I’ll revisit Resurrections.

Thoroughly enjoyed Michelle Young's season of The Bachelorette.  She was just as delightful as I'd hoped she would be in the lead role. And that girl can work an evening gown.

Wishing Michelle Y. and Nayte Olukoya much love and luck. Hope they beat the odds and actually make it to the altar and live happily ever after.  Such a gorgeous couple.  At 6' 8" (Nayte) and 5' 9" (Michelle), these two will produce NBA-ready offspring.  Michelle played college basketball. But judging by what we saw of Nayte's hoop skills, um, lets hope Michelle's genes break through. ; P   (Pic on right is from the Jan. 10, 2022 issue of People magazine.

I'm rooting for Brandon Jones, Michelle's first runner-up, to get cast as the lead of his own cycle. What a sweetheart he seems to be, based on his edit.* For the next cycle of The Bachelor we're getting Clayton Echard, also from Michelle's season. Wasn't a finalist, but we know why he was cast. (Side-eye.) But not his fault, though. And I do understand why he couldn't pass on this opportunity.  I will give him a chance and watch. And he's a Mizzou alumnus and former football player. Go, Tigers!!!   Bachelorette Update June 18, 2022: Michelle and Nayte issued statements informing Bachelor Nation they had broken up. Sad news, but I can honestly say I am far from surprised. I'll leave that there. Didn't think they were the best fit, but rooted for our first lead couple of color making it.
